Physio for Teenagers & Kids
Adolescence is a huge time of physical and mental growth - second only to infancy. It begins around 10 years old and physical maturity is not complete until as late as the early 20's for males. So it is understandable that growing, by itself or combined with the physical demands of sport, can result in aches and pains.
As a parent, it is difficult to know how to manage the teenager's physical complaints. It is important that this phase of physical growth is managed well. There are many things that you can do, which do not necessarily require your child stopping sport and activity. Complete rest and stretching are not always helpful but managing physical load and strengthening can be.
We really enjoy helping you and your adolescent navigate this challenging time - let us help you both work out what you can and shouldn't do to manage adolescent injuries, for the best long term outcomes.
